Curriculum

Bishops Hull Pre School offers the Government-approved early years curriculum. Throughout the Pre-school session, the children are encouraged to be initiators and decision-makers, enabling them to construct their own knowledge through active learning. We try to ensure that each child has equal access to a wide range of learning experiences

Pre-school follows the Early Learning Goals. These are set in place by the current Government and establish expectations for most children to reach by the end of the foundation stage. The foundation stage is a new stage of education for children aged from three to the end of reception year at school.

The Early Learning Goals provide the basis for curriculum planning throughout the foundation stage, laying a secure base for future learning. They are organised into six areas of learning:

  • personal, social and emotional development
  • communication, language and literacy
  • mathematical development
  • knowledge and understanding of the world
  • physical development
  • creative development

We are committed to offering high-quality educational provision, and our playleaders spend a great deal of time planning a curriculum around these areas of learning. Children have workbooks which parents can view at any time and discuss their child’s progress with the staff.
